Parabens belong to a group of commonly used preservatives which are well known for their weak (but existing) sensitizing properties.
Parabens for topical use were tested for skin irritation. Sensitive people have been found to cause irritation to the skin and may cause dermatitis in hypersensitive people. It has also been shown that people sensitive to one of the parabens are sensitive to other parabens.
